With teams already making major moves within the first few days of the legal tampering period and free agency officially starting today, the NFL power rankings have had a major shakeup. Here are some of my bold predictions for the 2019 NFL season.

Bold Prediction #1

Baker Mayfield wins MVP.

Baker Mayfield had one of the best rookie campaigns for a quarterback in recent memory. If it wasn’t for phenom running back Saquon Barkley, Baker was a lock for Offensive Rookie of the Year. Mayfield finished the season with 27 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions along with an impressive 93.7 passer rating. Unless you live under a rock, you have noticed the Browns have made major improvements on both sides of the football. The Browns made one of the most surprising moves of the off-season by trading for star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. This now pairs OBJ with former high school and college teammate Jarvis Landry. Baker will only benefit from these acquisitions and grow in his sophomore year.

Bold Prediction #2

The New York Jets finish the season 10-6 and make the playoffs as a Wild Card team.

Like the Browns, the Jets have been making a splash in free agency by using the $95 million they have in cap space. The Jets finally have their franchise quarterback in Sam Darnold while also having the third overall selection in the 2019 draft. Through free agency, the Jets brought in linebacker CJ Mosley and running back Le’Veon Bell. These two players will make significant impacts on the team this season.

Also, based on last years performances, the Jets have one of the easier schedules in football. They will take on the NFC East, AFC North, as well as their own division. The six losses the Jets will have will be to the Cowboys, Browns, Eagles, and two to the Patriots.

Bold Prediction #3

The New Orleans Saints will defeat the Cleveland Browns in Super Bowl LIV.

Will this finally be the year the Saints avoid one disastrous play and make it to the Super Bowl? I believe so.

The Saints have been quiet during free agency. They replaced running back free agent Mark Ingram with Latavius Murray. Other than that signing, the Saints have not lost or gained much this offseason. This is perfectly okay as they were one pass interference call away from playing in the Super Bowl. Drew Brees and company are ready to make one final run as Brees’s time in the NFL winds down.

The more bold prediction here is the Cleveland Browns playing in the Super Bowl. This prediction is based on the first one I talked about coming true. If Baker Mayfield has an outstanding year, there is not much holding this team back. Their offense is loaded with talent ranging from OBJ and Jarvis Landry to Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The defense is anchored down by stud defensive ends Myles Garrett and Olivier Vernon. The secondary consists of All-Rookie cornerback Denzel Ward and safety Damarious Randall. The Browns have become a force to be reckoned with.
