AFC North Predictions for Weeks 9-17

We are finally done with trades in the 2017 NFL Season. I got most of my previous picks for Pittsburgh correct, however, the other teams I didn’t do as well with. As the Trade Deadline and the halfway point in the season have come, let’s recap how it has been so far in the AFC North.

Standings Up until Week 8

  1. Pittsburgh 6-2
  2. Baltimore 4-4
  3. Cincinnati 3-4
  4. Cleveland 0-8

I thought that the Browns would win against the Colts and the Jets, oh well.

Cleveland Browns

Week 9: BYE

One of the few weeks that the Browns won’t lose a game.

Week 10: @ Detroit Lions, 1:00 PM CBS

This shouldn’t be up for debate. The Browns simply do not have a potent enough offense to compensate for the torching that Matt Stafford would bring to them. In addition to that, they are playing indoors in Detroit whereas if it were in Cleveland this would’ve likely been a closer matchup than expected.

Lions 34 – Browns 10

Week 11: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 1:00 PMCBS

The weather will help but not to the extent that the Browns would like it.

Jaguars 23 – Browns 10

Week 12: @ Cincinnati Bengals, 1:00 PM CBS

I want an upset to happen and it is getting more likely due to the fact that the Colts played better against the Bengals than they did against the Browns. The Bengals have been inconsistent however the Browns have been consistent in being the worst team in football. Despite this, look for a potential upset.

Browns 10 – Bengals 6

Week 13: @ Los Angeles Chargers, 4:05 PM FOX

This was the game that they won last year. I doubt that lightning will strike twice but then again kicking is a problem for the Chargers.

Chargers 10 – Browns 9

Week 14: vs. Green Bay Packers, 1:00 PM FOX

This is tricky to pick because of the QB situation in Green Bay. If Brett Hundley is the starter then it might be a close encounter with a chance that the Browns will win but if Aaron Rodgers plays it is a sure win for the Packers.

Without Rodgers: Browns 17- Packers 10

With Rodgers: Packers 24 – Browns 10

Week 15: vs. Baltimore Ravens 1:00 PM CBS

If Flacco plays like his alter ego Flucco then I can see the Browns winning this game however if the Ravens play like how they played against Miami then it is a Ravens win. Either way, I see the Ravens pulling through with the victory.

Flucco plays: Ravens 17 – Browns 10

Flacco plays: Ravens 24 – Browns 10

Week 16: @ Chicago Bears 1:00 PM, CBS

This will be a game that the Bears should win easily.

Bears 24 – Browns 10

Week 17: @ Pittsburgh Steelers 1:00 PM, CBS

I know for a fact that if the Steelers have clinched the division or have clinched a wild card then they would put in the reserves but regardless, the reserves would still beat the Browns, only by a closer margin.

With reserves: Steelers 13 – Browns 10 OT

Without reserves: Steelers 20 – Browns 10

Record (Rodgers plays): 1-15

Record (Hundley plays): 2-14

Cincinnati Bengals

Week 9: @ Jacksonville Jaguars, 1:00 PM CBS

Going into Jacksonville is hard enough but this year the team is poised to go on to win the division or at least earn a wild-card berth.

Jaguars 23 – Bengals 20

Week 10: @ Tenessee Titans, 1:00 PM FOX

Back-to-back road games are a tough task for any team and they have to play in Tennessee, but the Bengals will still come away with the win.

Bengals 20 – Titans 13

Week 11: @ Denver Broncos, 4:25 PM CBS

In this one, it depends on who is the quarterback for the Broncos but still, I see the Bengals losing this game in a close one.

Denver 13-Bengals 7 OT

Week 12: vs. Cleveland Browns, 1:00 PM CBS

Week 13: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, MNF, 8:30 PM ESPN

They played well in Pittsburgh but the Steelers have won the last four games in a row (including the playoff debacle). Still going to be a close game, but the Steelers will come out on top.

Steelers 20 – Bengals 16

Week 14: vs. Chicago Bears, 1:00 PM FOX

The Bears are playing well and they might as well sweep the AFC North but I don’t think that they will do so against the Bengals

Bengals 20 – Bears 10

Week 15: @ Minnesota Vikings, 1:00 PM CBS

Minnesota should win this one since the Bengals aren’t that strong.

Vikings 20 – Bengals 13

Week 16: vs. Detroit Lions, 1:00 PM CBS

Matthew Stafford should be able to win this game even without a running game.

Lions 35 – Bengals 20

Week 17: @ Baltimore Ravens, 1:00pm CBS

In Week 1 the Ravens scorched the Bengals. Do I think that the Bengals are still pissed? Hell yes. The result is all based on the assumption that Flacco, not his alter ego plays. Ravens win but if his alter ego plays Bengals win

With FluccoBengals 20 – Ravens 16

With Flacco: Ravens 20 – Bengals 10

Record:

With Flacco: 6-10

With Flucco: 7-9

Baltimore Ravens

Week 9: @ Tennessee Titans, 1:00 PM CBS

Baltimore doesn’t have the talent to play against the Titans on the road.

Titans 24 – Ravens 17

Week 10: BYE

Week 11: @ Green Bay Packers, 1:00 PM CBS

This is tricky to pick because of the quarterback situation in Green Bay. If Brett Hundley is the starter then it would be a close encounter with a chance that the Ravens will win but if Aaron Rodgers plays it is a sure win for the Packers.

Packers 23 – Ravens 20 OT

Week 12: vs. Houston Texans, MNF, 8:30 PM ESPN

This was supposed to be a defensive battle but after J.J. Watt went down, the offense needs to be the main focal point. If the Ravens can stop it they win, if they can’t they lose. With Deshaun Watson gone for the year, I see the Ravens winning the game.

Ravens 30 – Texans 20

Week 13: vs. Detroit Lions, 1:00 PM FOX

Detroit has been playing better as of late, so the main problem for the Ravens is how can they cover the many weapons that Stafford has but I still see the Ravens winning this game.

Ravens 20 – Lions 15

Week 14: @ Pittsburgh Steelers, SNF, 8:30 PM NBC

Classic Steelers-Ravens game, though I believe that the Steelers will sweep the series

Steelers 26 – Ravens 9

Week 15: @ Cleveland Browns, 1:00 PM CBS

If Flacco plays like his alter ego Flucco then I can see the Browns winning this game however if the Ravens play like how they played against Miami then it is a Ravens win. Either way, I see the Ravens pulling through with the victory.

Flucco plays:  Ravens 17 – Browns 10

Flacco plays: Ravens 24 – Browns 10

Week 16: vs. Indianapolis Colts, 4:30 PM NFLN, SATURDAY

Indy will play without Luck for the entire season and Jacoby Brissett is not playing at a high enough level to beat the Ravens.

Ravens 20 – Colts 16

Week 17: vs. Cincinnati Bengals, 1:00 PM CBS

In Week 1 the Ravens scorched the Bengals. Do I think that the Bengals are still pissed? Hell yes. The result is all based on the assumption that Flacco, not his alter ego plays. Ravens win but if his alter ego plays Bengals win.

With FluccoBengals 20 – Ravens 16

With Flacco: Ravens 20 – Bengals 10

Record: 7-9 (or 6-10 with Flucco)

Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 9: BYE
Week 10: @ Indianapolis Colts, 1:00 PM CBS

Indy will play without Luck for the entire season and Jacoby Brissett is not playing at a high enough level to beat the Steelers after a bye week.

Steelers 28 – Colts 10

Week 11: vs. Tennessee Titans, TNF, 8:25 PM NBC

I can see an upset in this matchup because of one reason: the Steelers play worse against teams who have worse records

Titans 23 – Steelers 20

Week 12: vs. Green Bay Packers 8:30 PM NBC

Regardless of whether Aaron Rodgers plays or not, the Steelers are going to win the game. They have limited weapons on offense and the Green Bay defense isn’t that good to begin with.

Steelers 20 – Packers 10

Week 13: @ Cincinnati Bengals, MNF, 8:30 PM ESPN

They played well in Pittsburgh but the Steelers have won the last four games in a row (including the playoff debacle). Still going to be a close game, but the Steelers will come out on top.

Steelers 20 – Bengals 16

Week 14: vs. Baltimore Ravens, SNF, 8:30 PM NBC

Classic Steelers-Ravens game, though I believe that the Steelers will sweep the series

Steelers 26 – Ravens 9

Week 15: vs. New England Patriots, 4:25 CBS

This is a true toss-up but I give the advantage to Pittsburgh because they’re playing at home.

Steelers 20 – Patriots 17

Week 16: @ Houston Texans, Christmas Day, 4:30 PM NBC

This was supposed to be a defensive battle but after J.J. Watt went down, the offense needs to be the main focal point. If the Steelers can stop it they win, if they can’t they lose. In addition, Deshaun Watson suffered a torn ACL so…

Steelers 30 – Texans 10

Week 17: vs. Cleveland Browns, 1:00 PM CBS

Record: 13-3

Looking at the schedules, the Steelers have the easiest schedule then followed by the Browns. In fact, the toughest is the Bengals as they only have four home games remaining.

Projected Standings:

  1. Pittsburgh Steelers (13-3)
  2. Baltimore Ravens (7-9 or 6-10)
  3. Cincinnati Bengals (7-9 or 6-10)
  4. Cleveland Browns (1-15 or 2-14)
