Jumbo shrimp. Virtual reality. Love hate relationships. Baseball in the northeast. Acting naturally. What do these have in common?
SUNYAC commissioner Tom Di Camillo announced today that the baseball SUNYAC tournament has been cancelled. Oswego has been declared the champion and will be heading to the national tournament.
The weather for this weekend is supposed to rain and fears of the field not being ready in time was a cause for concern. The last thing Di Camillo wanted was to have teams sit in a hotel in Oswego all weekend and not play a single game.
Unfortunately for Cortland, we obviously lost out on any chance to win the SUNYAC and enter the national tournament. There are three national at-large bids available for teams that didn’t win their conference. Cortland has received a bid before and have a pretty decent chance at receiving one this year given the circumstances and their #7 national rank.
UPDATED: MONDAY 5/15
Cortland was awarded an at-large bid for the national tournament and will play in Washington, Pennsylvania hosted by Washington & Jefferson College with games starting May 18th. Cortland will face Depauw University in the first round.
