We haven’t had one good playoff game this entire year. Yesterdays games were terrible. In case you missed them, Atlanta’s number one offense didn’t skip a beat against the Seahawks defense. The Seahawks tackling was atrocious as the Falcons did whatever they wanted on offense, cruising to a 36-20 win. I shouldn’t have switched my pick to Seattle +6. In the night cap, everyone got to experience first hand just how bad Brock Osweiler is. The Texans defense held strong for most of the game against the Patriots and Tom Brady but Osweiler’s turnovers doomed them. The Patriots rolled 34-16 and covered the 16 point spread. Today we’ve got two good matchups on the slate with the Packers traveling to Jerry’s World to face off against the Cowboys and the Steelers traveling to the loudest stadium in the league to play the Chiefs.
Packers (+4) at Cowboys
The first quarter or so is going to be very telling on this game is going to go. The Cowboys star rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott are playing in their first playoff game today and with a week off before this game, we don’t know how they’re going to come out. I don’t expect too much rust from them however if Aaron Rodgers leads the Packers to an early lead, the ‘Boys could be in trouble. The Cowboys should look to exploit the Packers’ secondary early and often, as the Giants did last week. The Cowboys will keep Rodgers in check enough to keep this one close. Prescott has a better game than Elliott and the Cowboys win while also covering.
Prediction: Packers-24. Cowboys-31
Steelers (+1) at Chiefs
The Steelers obliterated the Chiefs earlier this year and while I don’t expect a complete blowout, I don’t think this is one is all that close. Pittsburgh’s offense is rolling at the perfect time. The Killer B’s are a well oiled machine right now but with Big Ben’s injury, his mobility will be limited. The Steelers get out early in this one and force Alex Smith to throw the ball to bring them back. Problem is, Alex Smith doesn’t like to throw the ball deep. Expect Travis Kelce to have a huge game being that the Steelers can’t cover tight ends. I like the Steelers to win outright and move on to face the Patriots.
Prediction: Steelers- 27. Chiefs- 17.
