We have informed CB Darrelle Revis of his impending release.

This was inevitable for months now but actually seeing arguably the greatest player in franchise history get kicked out of the building is surreal. Revis is fresh off of his worst season as a pro and an arrest on four felony charges that include assault and making terroristic threats. The Jets are continuing to cut the dead weight from the roster in what looks like the set up of a rebuild.
Revis is my favorite football player ever. From 2008-2011 he could shut down anyone and anything he lined up against. He’s just not that guy anymore. The past season and a half he has been a shell of himself, looking more uninterested than I do in Psych 101. Revis Island has been shut down for over a year and a half now. The time was now to cut him. The cap hit of $15.33 million next season is ridiculous for a guy who doesn’t even want to cover anyone, forget can’t being able to.
Looking at this from a team perspective, let’s keep the good times rolling. It looks like the Jets are actually going into full rebuild mode. First Nick Mangold and now Darrelle Revis, the Jets are going head over heart into this new year. They’re cutting all of the dead weight and are heading into the direction of building from the ground up. Finally it looks as if a plan has been put in place for the long term.
Here’s a highlight reel of Revis’ Jets career. Enjoy.
