MNF Picks: Week 1

What a first Sunday of NFL football. The Patriots seem to be fine without Brady and Gronk, my Jets lost in a heartbreaker (shocker), the Chiefs had a miraculous comeback against the Chargers, and we had the Raiders pull a win out with a gutsy call. It was a great day for a majority of football fans and if it wasn’t a great day for your team, stop being selfish. Football is back and we’re all happy.

But it is not over yet! We have two Monday Night Football games tonight. You know what that means? We get Chris Berman making inaudible noises into a microphone followed by long silences later in the game. I can’t wait. Here are my picks for the two Monday night games.

Pittsburgh (-2) at Washington

My fantasy team needs a big game from Antonio Brown and that is exactly what I expect will happen. We get to see the Redskins’ newest addition at cornerback in the humble and introverted Josh Norman. That battle will be fun but I think Brown gets the best of him. Both offenses are primed for huge years. Kirk Cousins is a guy that has a lot to prove in my eyes. He had a good year last year and he’s betting on himself this year to get that big, long-term contract. Big Ben has to deal with not having Le’Veon Bell for the first three games but DeAngelo Williams filled in nicely during Bell’s absence last year. I think Roethlisberger finds Brown a lot this game and makes Josh Norman reconsider leaving the Panthers. I’m taking the Steelers. I also have them covering.

Prediction: Steelers

Los Angeles (-2.5) at San Francisco

Is anybody actually going to watch this game? The worst game on the schedule to close out Week 1. Two not very good teams going up on MNF with Chris Berman on the mic. I’ll keep this short. San Francisco had a bottom five defense last year. The Rams have Todd Gurley. Need I say more? Rams take this one and send the 49ers one game closer to getting Deshaun Watson in the draft. Rams also cover.

Prediction: Rams
