Phil Jackson, Knicks Part Ways

“We know what we’re doing.”

The famous last words of Phil Jackson as he and the New York Knicks parted ways early this morning. Under Jackson’s three year reign as president of the team, the Knickerbockers went an abysmal 80-166 while also putting together an roster full of dinosaurs and pissing not one, but both of their star players in the process.

Phil Jackson, the zen master or whatever the hell you want to call him, was never meant to do this job. He’s got the 13 rings for coaching 11 championship teams and playing on two Knicks championship teams. From the moment he walked into Madison Square Garden as president of the New York Knicks, he was incompetent. He wanted to collect that president money, not perform the tasks that come along with it.

Jackson has made a couple of good moves during his tenure. He traded for Willy Hernangomez, he drafted Kristaps Porzingis and even at the time signing Derrick Rose was a good move. After that, the list turns to bad. SB Nation did a great job of outlining all of the moves Phil has made during his entire time with the Knicks.

The Phil Jackson experiment was a big giant disaster not only for the Knicks franchise but for the Knicks fans as well. It’s one thing to be bad at your job but it’s another to be completely incompetent. Knicks fans don’t deserve that level of incompetence and hopefully, the team brings in a guy who actually cares about basketball more than smoking weed and eating Thai food in Montana during free agency.
