Puma Targets Basketball Once Again

After 20 years, Puma has decided to get back into the NBA. Puma is now signing a bunch of NBA rookies from this past draft class including Arizona and first pick in the draft Deandre Ayton, number two pick Marvin Bagley III, and other players like Michael Porter Jr. and Zhaire Smith. Puma was also able to acquire WNBA star Skylar Diggins-Smith and NBA star Rudy Gay.

Puma was the first company to endorse an athlete with a shoe in 1973. This athlete was Walt “Clyde” Frazier who’s famous for winning an NBA title with the New York Knicks in 1970 and 1973. Puma now believes it’s their turn to jump back into the game and endorse their company through this past heavy talented NBA draft.

Marvin Bagley III who is an up and coming rookie in the NBA believes that this could be the best shoe on the market as he has taken a risk with puma company.

Marvin had a lot to say about Puma such as: “When they came to us, they presented the vision they had for the brand, for myself and for what they’re trying to do going forward with everything coming up. It sounded great at first. It sounded like something I was interested in. I weighed out all my options. I sat down after all that was over and made the decision to go with the Puma brand because I have a vision — me, being creative.”

Marvin goes on to talk about how he believes Puma has the potential to be the next Nike. This is hard to predict, but with the talent they were able to sign, Puma may have the right plan to get people hooked. The contract PUMA gave Bagley is reportedly the biggest shoe deal for a rookie since Kevin Durant signed his deal with Nike for seven years, 60 million dollars with Nike.

Puma was able to show off their shoes in Brooklyn with not only new shoes, but the style they believe will help them achieve success in the near future. Puma has been given an opportunity to not only show people they deserve to be back in the game of basketball, but prove to the other top companies that they can pull in the same talent as all of their competitors.

During this day in Brooklyn at Puma headquarters, Puma offered the 74 year old Walt “Clyde” Frazier a lifetime contract with the man who was able to get them off the ground nearly fifty years ago. Frazier who has a great sense of fashion believes that these precocious neophytes have a chance to be in the shoes he was once in and bring Puma to the top.

Puma was also able to sign a successful business man who is Jay Z as the president of Puma Basketball. Jay Z will help in marketing campaigns to get the brand back on the map for basketball purposes, and give his                                                                         opinion on who he believes they should sign.

Puma has take the steps to get back on the basketball map. It’s definitely going to take time, but Puma needs to find the right players that will help get them to the top. Now it’s just a matter of time before  Puma can become successful in this brand heavy NBA.
