Revival: Eminem’s Next Album?

It feels like Eminem has been working on an album for about 5 years at this point. When The Marshall Mathers LP 2 came out in 2013, I was fully convinced that it was Slim Shady’s last solo studio album, and I was okay with it. Em proved that he came back from his albums that were subpar, to his standards, because of his drug abuse problems (“Encore” and Relapse), by dropping Recovery and The Marshall Mathers LP 2. I didn’t expect him to fully ride into the sunset quite yet, I thought he would still do features, and maybe even drop singles here and there. That’s exactly what he did, since The MMLP2 Shady has featured in songs such as The Hills by the Weeknd, Cmon Let Me Ride by Skylar Gray, No Favors by Big Sean, and more. Eminem even wrote 2 singles for the soundtrack of the move “Southpaw”, in Phenomenal and Kings Never Die, Eminem even dropped a 15-year anniversary album, featuring Slaughterhouse. Eminem has stayed busy in his album absence, not letting the rap world forget about him just yet.

Eminem is a smart man, as of late he has stayed extra busy to keep his name out there and getting people to buzz. Slim Shady answered the age-old question, “Does Eminem like Donald Trump?”. Resounding NO from Marshall Mathers. Eminem was also featured in P!nk’s latest album, in a song titled “Revenge”. Leading some people to think a certain announcement might be coming soon.

Slim Shady is one clever S.O.B. Eminem and his team have given subtle hints at what his next album will be called. Eminem’s long-time manager, Paul Rosenberg, posted an Instagram photo of a Yelawolf album, advertising that it comes out Friday, at least that’s what it looks like at first glance. But if you look closer you can see a billboard in the background for a drug named Revival, one interesting thing about this advertisement is that the “E” in Revival is backwards in the ad, much like Eminem’s logo used in both “Relapse” and “Recovery”. Maybe that was just a coincidence, right? But wait, if you call the number for the ad, 1-833-243-8738, you can hear the song “I Need A Doctor” by Eminem featuring Dr. Dre. That could also just be coincidence, right? I mean, who doesn’t love that song? But what about the fact that there isn’t even a real drug called revival? What could this mean? I think it can only mean one thing, Eminem’s new album is going to be titles “Revival”, and it will be like a drug to Eminem fans. LET’S GO.

I am what you could call an Eminem “Stan”, he is the only music I’ve listened to since 7th grade, and every other rapper I enjoy can pretty much lead back to Slim Shady in some way, shape, or form; 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, etc. Hip Hop and Rap is just not what it once was because most of the names I just listed don’t consistently rap anymore. Most Rappers today have no lyricism, they rely on the beats more than their own rhymes, so here’s to hoping Eminem can show these new rappers how it should be done.

PS-Early 2000’s rap is the GOAT, if you don’t agree, you are wrong.
