Second Half Goal’s gives Red Dragons first loss on the season

The Red Dragons entered the weekend with an impressive 624 minute shutout streak. Unfortunately that ended in the second half Friday afternoon. In their 3rd SUNYAC, the Potsdam Bears came into Cortland with a 6-2-2 record, while the Red Dragons entered with a 5-0-3 record.

The first half both teams were in a dead lock. Cortland out shot Potsdam 7-4 in the first half. With a number a good saves by goalie Danika Svendsen, the Red Dragons were able to extend their shutout streak to 669 minutes.


After a scoreless first half, the Bears opened up the scoring with a goal by Rylie Murray in the 52nd minute. The Bears scored once again with a goal from Jaci Morr in the 85th minute. Cortland answered with a team goal after an initial save by goalie Gabby Hobika who also totaled 11 saves. Unfortunately for the Red Dragons time had expired and they suffer the 2-1 loss. On the game the Red Dragons out shot the Bears 23-9, and in shots on goal 12-4 on the afternoon.

For the Potsdam Bears their record improves to 7-2-2 record, as the Red Dragons suffer their first loss of the season and fall to a 5-1-3 record. The Red Dragons will be back in action Saturday September 30th as they will take on Plattsburgh at 1 P.M at stadium white.
