While everyone is marveling at South Carolina making it to the Final Four, I’m in my misery. Not only do I have to hear every single story relate to how Frank Martin is a great guy (I’m always going to see him as psycho Frank Martin from Kansas State) and how this bully ball team is SO different from every other team left but almost certainly there will be a huge mention of them beating Duke.
I’m bitter. I will admit it. I wasn’t bitter when Syracuse beat Duke on a buzzer beater. I was motivated. I wasn’t bitter when everyone on Facebook watched me dismantle when Duke lost to North Carolina. I was even more motivated. But now, now I’m bitter. Watching South Carolina beat Baylor and now Florida, I can’t get it out of my head how Duke should be in this spot. I’ve played “You Should Be Here” by Cole Swindell 100 times with my Duke shirt on wondering what could have been.
I also HATE the way that they play. It’s such a frustrating watch. Watching Duke-South Carolina was like watching an old person doing a puzzle. You know they’re going to finish it but you know those two plus hours will be the slowest of your entire life. The way these refs have been officiating this tournament will continue to be bad and even worse in the Final Four. So yay South Carolina, cannot WAIT to watch two plus hours of foul ridden basketball.
All of this misery might be from the fact that I have fallen off of a cliff in my against the spread bracket and me just taking it out on South Carolina. I’ve gotten something like one game right all weekend. I’ve had cold sweats the entire weekend after sitting pretty at the conclusion of the second round. Vegas always wins. I hate it. It’ll never go away. It’s something I have to live with. This is just one of these weekends where everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.
