The Complicated and Unusual Gold Cup Qualification

The days of the UNCAF and CFU tournaments as well as the automatic qualifiers from North America are over. The UNCAF which is the La Union de Centroamericana de Fútbol and the Caribbean Association of Football or CFU used to have tournaments for who would end in the Gold Cup, the regional tournament of CONCACAF. Now, here comes the CONCACAF League of Nations to change things up.

The new system integrates the three zones of CONCACAF: UNCAF (Central America), CFU (Caribbean), and North America, as for the qualifiers for the Gold Cup 2019 and for League A six spots have been filled. Those six are the six teams that made it to the Hexagonal for the World Cup which are: Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, United States and Trinidad and Tobago.

For the remaining spots of the twelve team League A, the six best teams in overall standings and then the next twelve to League B and the remaining twelve to League C. Complicated? Definitely.

So for the rest of the teams in the region, sans Guatemala who are suspended, here are the pots based on the CONCACAF Region Rankings:
